Bali Nine is the name given to the mass media nine Australians arrested on April 17, 2005 in Bali, Indonesia in an attempt to smuggle 8.2 kg of heroin from Indonesia to Australia. Four other people, Nguyen, Sukumaran, Chen and Norman were arrested at the Hotel Melasti in Kuta for storing a number of 350g of heroin and other items that indicate their involvement in the smuggling attempt.

On February 13, 2006, Denpasar District Court sentenced Lawrence and Rush with life imprisonment. Then on February 15, Nguyen, Chen, and Norman was also sentenced to life imprisonment by the judges.
